That won't be possible unless you already have an app running on the palm.
The serial manager is just a library of APIs not an application.  Plus the
Palm does not listen to the serial port.  An application must open the port
and listen for data in order for something to happen.  What you suggest is
like expecting your VCR to turn itself on and start recording your favorite
shows just because its connected to your cable service.  You will need to
program it to do so first.
