I've been using floats and doubles since '97, support has been there since the beginning. What do you mean by updating fields? Via a conduit or in the PDB directly? Any particular reason you have to support OS2.0? There are very few 2.0 devices still in use (at least that haven't been upgraded). If you supported 3.1 or even 3.0 as a minimum few if any would complain.
