I've compared further and found that the first time the Break is sent it raises the voltage from -17 to 0volts for 450us. If I then send charactors out the port and then do another Break without closing and reopening the port the srmCtlStopBreak command sends the last charactor that was sent.
This is why the voltage was toggling up and down when it was suppost to be sending a Break. So, there is another incorrect behaviour of the Break signal command. At this point what my testing has shown is the following. 1) The srmCtlStartBreak and srmCtlStopBreak commands do not begin a Break and end a Break. Instead they both send a Break signal 450us long. 2) The srmCtlStartBreak and srmCtlStopBreak commands send a Break as long as they are the first signals to be sent out the serial port. If charactors are sent out the serial port and then srmCtlStartBreak or srmCtlStopBreak commands are called they send the last charactor out the port. 3) Some of us need to send a Break signal with a duration of our choosing.
