A few months ago I did some preliminary investigation into using a scroll bar with a list. From what I can remember, I ran into similar problems and couldn't figure out a way to get a scroll bar working with a list without a _lot_ of extra work on my part. It wasn't worth the effort, so I went with the standard scroll arrows instead. Perhaps someone else out there has had better luck.
