The academic edition and professional edition are the same product, with
the same functionality. The difference is that the academic product is
only available to people affiliated with a learning institution, and it
cannot be used to produce commercial software, if I remember the license
correctly. Freeware and personal development is OK, but if you're being
paid for your software, you have to get the pro version.

As for price breaks on upgrade -- I know if you have V8 Professional, V9
Pro will be half price. Going from academic V8 to academic V9 will be
$75, the standard academic upgrade price. Upgrading from academic V8 to
professional V8 or V9 -- that I don't know. Contact
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and they can tell you what I don't know.
