Here are some obvious new features, based on what shipped in IDE 5.0 (as released in CW Pro 8 for MacOS and Win32) and what I've said at PalmSource 2002. 1) improved C/C++ compiler front-end 2) Object Library for Palm OS V4 (POL) 3) Wizard for creating new POL projects 4) support for building ARMlets and linking them into 68K code 5) docked, tabbed, smothered, and covered IDE windows (Win32 MDI mode only, some options only available at your local Waffle House) 6) C/C++ code completion 7) IDE workspace support (save and restore groups of windows, automatically at IDE open and close if desired) 8) emulator/simulator debugging using arbitrary IP address and port number 9) eventpoints: conditional and unconditional breakpoints that can write to log files, speak values of expressions, skip over lines, run scripts, and even play sounds 10) STL debug mode in the MSL C++ library 11) smart variable formatting in debugger There are other features which I cannot reveal just yet, and I don't want to discourage anyone from getting V8, since I still feel it has some real worth versus older versions of the tools. See http://www.palmoswerks.com/stories/storyReader$79 for my comments on the upgrade situtation. -- Ben Combee <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> CodeWarrior for Palm OS technical lead Get help at http://palmoswerks.com/ -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
