Not sure we'll see GPRS APIs as such - we'll just see devices able to use GPRS as normal PalmOS Network Connections. WHat would be useful is some updates to the Network API to allow silent (no GUI interruption) connections, connections that persist while the device is off (even 'always-on' GPRS disconnects when the device turns off...) and other such improvements for the changes in PDA connectivity. >I'm currently writing for a Handspring Treo running OS 3.5 so they will do me >fine, although it does kinda pigeon-hole my app into only running on a couple >of devices. Typical... Of course the Treos are one of the devices that doesn't use the standard NetworkDB format. Or at least the GPRS upgraded ones will use a different format - I don't have a Treo yet to test on (270 is 'in the mail'...). However, a handspring guy I spoke to recently told me that the NetworkDB format had been changed for the Treos. But all is not lost! When handspring release the GPRS upgrade they're going to release a new set of APIs and documentation, including an API to work with their new-format Network Panels. >Am I correct in thinking that the format of the network preferences is no >longer standard across all devices (since you mention new devices not having >the same NetworkDB format) ? Yes - and of course it's the one device you're working on that differs so far! :( Cheers Russell -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
