Why do don't you simply request that Palm Desktop is installed before your
installation continues? You can provide a link for download, or, if you
provide a CD redistributable, you can include it as a separate installation
executable.

Installations made with Pilot Catapult, for example, refuse to install if
there is a conduit included in the installation and there is no Palm Desktop
installed on the machine. For two years we never had a single complaint. We
have applications where the Palm and the desktop versions can run separately
or in combination (through conduit). In this case we bundle the conduit with
the Palm installation and leave the desktop portion executable alone, so
that it can install even if there is no Palm Desktop preinstalled.

Hi,
Our company has developed a product which involves a PC side and Palm
side. We have made an installation of the product using Wise. We also need
to run the HotSync setup to install the Palm Desktop software and after that
install our conduits. How can we write our own HotSync installer given the
binaries? Does anyone know what files, registry entries and other settings
should be set in order to have a running system?
