Helene, use the approach with the Exchange Manager, it will be the smartest way. If you want to access the datebook database directly look at DateDB.c line 474 static void ApptPack(ApptDBRecordPtr s, ApptPackedDBRecordPtr d) and call the datebook application after you insert the record with sysAppLaunchCmdSyncNotify to let it rescan its database.
