After a lot of time on the phone with Palm's telephone support, I have
found that I have reached my wit's end. I have been using Palm Desktop
nee Claris Organizer for many years and have managed to corrupt my "User
Data" file. Here are the details:

Symptoms: Starting Palm Desktop results in two dialog boxes
reporting unexpected end of file. If I try to merge the corrupt file,
it reports about 1770 items merged before there is a dialog box
reporting unexpected exception. The file does not contain any of the
items from the corrupt file.

   Environment:
     OS: Macintosh OS X
     Palm Desktop 4.0

My goal now is to write a program that will read through the corrupt
"User Data" file and recover as much as I can. Does anyone have any
information on the format of the "User Data" file? I have tried a few
experiments, but the file format is pretty hard to decipher.

I have the "User Data (old)" file, but it is several months old.
