The Visor serial port uses TTL logic and does not have the necessary control lines. A TTL to RS232 converter is necessary but since the necessary hardware control logic is missing, you are limited to XON/XOFF or no flow control. You can't simply connect a cable between a Visor and a standard RS232 device. Most Visor serial cables and serial cradles contain additional hardware to do the signal conversion. A RS232 converter is not required for Palm branded devices as they provide a nearly RS232 compatible port. I never said anything about additional code.
