Hi Tony,
Thanks. I am using Falch.net's IDE and gcc compiler. And Palm SDK
5.0. But Falch.net does not include Symbol API. I have scandemo developed in
codewarrior. But Falch tool and CW have all different datatypes. So am
facing a lot of problems in converting and compiling.
Any other api or source/article for Falch.net tool.
Regards,
Amit Solanki
Hello Amit,
It all depends on the tool you are using, however, Symbol has a pretty
good developer support program. Go to http://devzone.symbol.com to
register, and you can download quite a few API's directly from them.
CodeWarrior for PalmOS, PC Platform (
http://www.metrowerks.com/MW/Develop/Desktop/PalmOS/Default.htm ) includes
the Symbol 3.1 SDK (the same as you would get from the Symbol devzone site),
which covers the SPT 15xx, 17xx, and 18xx series. If you already have
CodeWarrior installed, check in your <CodeWarrior>\Other SDKs\Symbol
directory.
In either case, check the "\Symbol\Samples\ScanDemo" directory for an
example of how to communicate with the barcode scanner in C or C++. Check
the "\Symbol\Document" directory for function-level documentation of the
API's.
If Visual Basic is more to your liking, check out the tools from
AppForge ( http://www.appforge.com ). MobileVB 3.1 supports 1D barcode
scanning for all Symbol Devices, including Pocket PC platforms.
You'll have to ask the Mac/Linux gurus that have done Symbol
development if you develop using either of those platforms. (Don't hate me
because I'm a Windows developer - if I had my choice, we'd all be using
Amigas right now!)
Good luck! -Tony
