So, there is no appropriate mechanism to draw colored lines :((

If you don't want to use the documented OS 3.5 API's, then you try
using Crayola(tm) crayons, which will draw colored lines quite
nicely on PalmPilot screen protectors made out of overhead
transparency film. (Works even on OS 1.0 units with monochrome
displays! ;^)
