Not sure about your avg. usenet newsreader, but I know that if you constantly change the subject of messages that are, contents-wise, part of one thread you make it somewhat hard for people doing research in the escribe (and yahoo?) archives to later go through the thread. And we all do want people to use the archives to read previous discussions, don't we? Check out the ongoing thread that started out as "using Visual Basic to program Palm OS" on escribe, for example.
