do you have an active form?
there is a *bug* with the OS that requires a form exists on 4.0+ units
when an alarm notification is made. we ran into this problem while doing
our demo competition - i have a thread on the topic here:

(and, also a possible solution) - but, you dont really want to ignore
that event :) easiest way is to define a form so it doesn't barf :)
