Hi there, This question is directed at anyone with a Palm M130 (or anyone from Palm Inc). After five years as a proud Palm Pilot Pro owner, I've finally decided to upgrade and I've set my sights on a M130 (due to the colour screen) but after reading the data sheet I am a little worried about the battery power.
One of the things that most attracted me to the palm was how long a set of AAA's last (I can often go several weeks between syncing, and I get about one to four months depending on use). I was dismayed to find that I can't change the batteries in a M130 but instead must rely on internal lithium batteries that get charged when the device is in the cradle. According to specs a full charge is expected to last about week, in practice is this reasonable? Also when the batteries are "flat" what happens to the internal memory, does the unit keep enough charge back to keep the memory intact even if the unit wont powerup (a feature that has been EXTREMELY useful for me on my Palm Pro SEVERAL times). The main problem I have is that I have a cradle at home, and I mostly use a cable for syncing at work due to space limitations and I don't want to be forced to keep turning to my home PC - which is v. rarely used 8-( just to keep the unit working (especially if I am away for more than a couple of weeks) I realise that a colour backlit screen will drain battery power quite fast but a (now re-educated *grin*) friend of mine used to own an IPAQ and if he hand't used it for a while, he would turn it on to find the batteries dead and all the memory erased - I don't want to suffer the same fate 8-( So does anyone know of any plans to make a new model Palm with a colour screen that will allow me to replace the batteries (or even a new case for an exisiting M130 that will allow me to change batteries and disable charging). TIA Jon... -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
