I've dealt with these printers, and AFAIK, they are just SLOOOW.  IIRC, they
use a 9 "pin" thermal print head, which operates the same way as a normal
dot matrix printer (zipping back and forth) , whereas most thermal printers
have a static 384 pin head, resulting in faster print speeds.  I personally
cannot recommend highly enough the great Datecs PP50 printers.  90% of  my
customers now use them, and they're FAST.  YMMV.
