Is there a definition of the values a hotsync ID can take? Presumably it can have no latin characters on devices with a locale such as Japanese.
Usually "strangeness" is stripped from the hotsync ID to make the algorithm more robust to user inaccuracies when they enter their ID (say in a website). However, doing stripping when you don't know how "strange" a hotsync ID can be is somewhat difficult. Does anyone have any comments on registration algorithms based on hotsync ID working with non-latin locales?
