The best approach I can see is to clone the PrvPtrCheck code from the OS/4 sources. Include a test for the OS version, limiting the test to those versions that you've actually tested it on. The code might work with OS/5, but unless you've got OS/5 sources (yeah, right...), you have no way of knowing if the tests are still valid. If you catch all the errors that occur in OS3/4, you're a long way toward working in later OS versions.
