You can use the following configuration and procedure to allow communication
through the network:

CONSIDER HAVING TWO PC: PRIMARY PC AND FRONT END PC:
The server is the primary pc and the front pc is each student pc
1- THE PRIMARY PC WHERE THE DATA SHOULD BE DOWNLOADED OR UPLOADED
A. MAKE SURE THAT THE SPT'S USER EXIST ON THIS PC.
B FROM HOTSYNC MANAGER � CHECK LOCAL SERIAL (OR LOCAL USB)
C. FROM HOTSYNC MANAGER � CHECK NETWORK
D FROM HOTSYNC MANAGER �SETUP�NETWORK� SELECT USERS FOR WHICH U WANT
TO COMMUNICATE OVER NETWORK EXAMPLE: TEST.
2- ON THE SPT :
A. SELECT HOTSYNC MANAGER ICON � MENU � LANSYNC PREFERENCES � TAP
LANSYNC
B. PRESS HOTSYNC FOR COMMUNICATION TO CONFIGURE PRIMARYPC SETUP ON THE
SPT
C. SELECT HOTSYNC MANAGER ICON � MENU � PRIMARYPC SETUP TO MAKE SURE
THAT THE CONFIGURATIONS CORRECT (HAVING THE MAME AND IP
ADDRESS FOR THE PRIMARY PC EXAMPLE: ONE4ALL AND ITS IP ADDRESS)
3- THE FRONT END PC WHERE THE SPT IS CONNECTED.
A. FROM HOTSYNC MANAGER � CHECK LOCAL SERIAL (OR LOCAL USB)
B FROM HOTSYNC MANAGER � CHECK NETWORK
C CONNECT YOUR SPT TO THE FRONT END PC AND PRESS HOTSYNC TO
COMMUNICATE
4- TROUBLESHOOTING: IF THE PRIMARY PC WASN'T FOUND WHEN COMMUNICATING, THE
FRONT END PC DISPLAYS A MESSAGE ASKING THE USER TO CONNECT TO A LOCAL
PC OR CANCEL COMMUNICATION
5- NOTE: NO NEED FOR THE PRIMARY PC USER TO EXIST ON THE FRONT END PC.

Hi,
Im am new here in the world of programming in Palm. I am currently working
on a project, for my University. I'm trying to perform a Sync between a
Palm and a server (specifically a page that we are also creating). This
sync needs to be performed from the LAN in our campus and from the
student's home accessing through the universities web page and into the
web page we are creating (were I live we don't have dorms In our
universities).
I have read about network Sync, but I haven't been able to find something
concrete to what it is or what are the limitations of this, same goes for
the counduicts.
(the plugins for Hot Sync).
What would be the best to perform a Sync between data inside a web page
(server) and a Palm? Not using a 3party program inside the PC where the
cradle is? Or is this just not possible and it would be better to design
some sort of process that takes out the data of the web page and then
palces it inside the Hotsync to it can be upgraded when the Hotsync is
enabled?.
The objective is that the students can be able to upgrade their own palm,
form the server. *Note: none of the students has the same info, the web
page is a personal agenda, so each student upgrades HIS OWN agenda
information inside the palm.
