Keith's got it right; I didn't know about OffsetOf when I wrote the
code for the Librarian sample app. Because I wrote the code at the
same time I was writing the book, I didn't get a chance to devote
nearly as much time to the code as I'd have liked. I apologize for any
confusion I've caused; looking back at that code, I find that it
confuses *me*, so it obviously could use a rewrite (or at least a few
more comments).
