Ok, this is the correct response for this subject... It depends on exactly which signals the device you are connecting to requires as to who's cable will work. Be warned that most sell a line-powered cable that gets its power from both the Clie and the connected device (on the presumption that it is a PC). One or two use the 3.3v out line on the Clie and will continue to draw power even being just connected to the unit. I have not seen anyone make a fully compatible RS232 Clie cable with an external power source (more robust than line-powered cables).
Here are a few places I get my cables from: http://shop.brando.com.hk/index.php Brando has been awesome, never failed to deliver listed products, cheap shipping, the only drawback is the shipping time. http://www.pcables.com/index.html PC cables has some unique offerings. http://www.gethightech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=SC Standard cable offerings http://pc-mobile.net/home2.htm PC Mobile has some full-featured RS232 conversion cables for Clie. http://www.markspace.com/datacord.html Markspace at one time either had or was planning Clie cables. You could contact them and see if they still do. My last suggestion is to make your own cable. Maxim-IC ( http://www.maxim-ic.com/ ) makes several flavors of line-powered RS232 level driver chips. Most have a through-hole version suitable for prototyping. If you decide to go this route, you can order a couple of samples for free. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dhanashri K" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Palm Developer Forum" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, September 08, 2003 10:03 AM Subject: serial cable for CLIE > Hello , > I want to run my serial application on Sony CLIE PEG-TG50/U device running > on Palm OS 5.0 , but I am not finding a suitable serial cable for the same . > Where can I find a serial cable for this device ? and what will be its > compatibility with respect to other series of CLIE devices ? > Please mail me the info as early as possible . > Thanks in advance & regards , > Dhanashri . > > _________________________________________________________________ > Compare Cable, DSL or Satellite plans: As low as $29.95. > https://broadband.msn.com > > > -- > For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/ > -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
