After investigating, replying to myself to add some clues...

The problem occurs not only with WinDrawRectangle, but with all other
drawing functions. Actually, the Simulator 5R3 crashes when trying to draw
on the rightmost pixels of the last line of an HD offscreen window. By the
way, I noticed that when creating such a window, it is correctly initialized
to white, except these last pixels. May be does the Simulator allocate a
memory block a few bytes too small to contain the bitmap bits ?

Everything seems to work fine on a real device (tested on a Tungsten T and a
T3).
