What does the installer use for detecting the current installation of CW9? I tried the auto-install of Palm OS 5 SDK (68K) R3.exe, and it claims that no Codewarrior is found. However, the 9.2 patch found everything and went off without a hitch (Well, "knock on wood" as I haven't recompiled my apps yet!) Just curious as I'll put it in by hand tomorrow...
The 9.2 patch was done by Metrowerks, the people who make CodeWarrior. The Palm OS SDK 5.0 R3 update was done by PalmSource, and doesn't seem to actually be able to find most V9 installations. Just follow the manual update instructions I've reposted here:
It is safe to update to SDK 5.0 R3, but it works better for you to install it manually, as the installer-version doesn't detect V9 installations correctly. Here's how I do my updates:
1) Get the "Palm OS 5 SDK (68K) R3- No installer" version.
2) Unzip this into its own folder, outside the CW tree.
3) For the "Palm Documentation" folder, drag the "Palm OS 5 SDK (68K) Docs" folder to your "{CWRoot}\CW for Palm OS Support\Documentation" folder.
4) For "Palm OS Support", drag it to the {CWRoot} folder and let it replace the current Palm OS Support folder.
5) In the "CodeWarrior Support" folder,
5a) Move "Palm OS 5 SDK (68K) R3 Examples" folder to {CWRoot}\(CodeWarrior Examples)\Palm OS"
5b) Move "Palm OS Application" in {Project Stationery} to {CWRoot}\Stationery
5c) Copy the files from Plugins\Linkers to bin\Plugins\Linker
5d) Copy the files from Plugins\Preference Panel to bin\Plugins\Preference Panel
5e) Copy the two PalmRez support files to bin\Plugsin\Support. In the bin\Plugins\Support folder, make another folder called "RESOURCE.FRK", and put a second copy of these two files in there.
6) For "Palm Tools",
6a) Drag the contents of the Constructor folder into the "CW for Palm OS Tools\Constructor for Palm OS" folder.
6b) Drag the other two folders to the "CW for Palm OS Tools" folder.
Sorry for all the manual work, but it does give you a better idea of the challenges of getting a product layout correct :)
