I have to agree with Aaron. We were screwed by palmgear too for 3months of loyalties. Regardless if you go exclusive or not they (palmgear, handango etc) wants a big chunk of the commission. We went with the premier partner program with palmgear and you know what they did absolutely nothing for us in terms of promoting our products. Its like here is the money just take it.
so in short if you need exposure list your products on EDS sites. no one is gonna know you if you don't get listed. We too use eSellerate and they are the best in support and they don't take big ass commission from you like the cash cows. regards, danny www.toysoft.ca ----- Original Message ----- From: "Aaron Ardiri" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Palm Developer Forum" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, November 12, 2003 2:53 PM Subject: Re: Living well as an independent PalmOS developer > > But I did get an e-mail from Palmgear saying that there are people > > who develop exclusively for palmgear. > > um.. thats a load of crap. > > we used to exclusively *sell* on palmgear - until they screwed us > big time and didn't pay (yes, you can ask many developers) - we were > screwed extra because we actually went *exclusive*. > > as such we refuse to sell on any ESD site - mainly because they > are all run by a bunch of creedy pigs; thinking about how to make > a quick buck instead of helping the developers who actually gave > them a reason to exist in the first place. > > 30% commission? for what? credit card payments are 30c + 3%. > if you do the math, even after taking out costs of bandwidth > etc - 30% gives them quite a chunk of change in their pockets. > > we actually have our own webstore using www.esellerate.net > = great service, and we also accept payments over paypal. unless > you are prepared to pay for advertising on ESD's - there is > no real point to even listing your software there; people wont > even find you. > > --- > Aaron Ardiri > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > http://www.mobilewizardry.com/members/aaron_ardiri.php [profile] > > -- > For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/ > -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
