Hope you are an expert in speech recognition: it takes several years to
have an engine running at an industrial level (even the industrial level
is very far from the human perception level).
My answer is:
-it's possible to do the same as on a PocketPc, I don't know
where they are but they recognized words in small dictionary, or sample
matching against prerecorded samples
-don't expect too much: static noise filtering, huge neural
networks...
-if you are not a palm expert ready... expect several months
before known every thing you need before being able to start to code:
arm, sound api manager, the OS tricks, compiler line, the optimizations
for the processor...
If you need advice, I work in business specialized in language
processing. We work from time to time on sub parts of speech
recognition/synthesis. And we are experienced with the palm platform.
