you can use the NaveKeyPressed macro defined in PalmNavigator.h.
if ( NavKeyPressed( eventP, Left ) ) if ( NavKeyPressed( eventP, Right ) )
And PalmNavigator.h is part of the Palm SG SDK, available from pluggedin.palmone.com. It comes with a bit of reference material on the 5-way.
