You might want to try other JPEG libraries: http://flippinbits.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/DevToolsJPEGArmlet http://flippinbits.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/DevToolsJPEGLib
Both are free, open-source and were released more recently than the library you're using now. You'll probably have better luck with these libraries. At any rate, all of the libraries are derived from the original IJG code(as nearly every JPEG library is).
