If you run a Palm Emulator (I am using Palm OS Emulator v3.5) on your

This is with "redirect netlib" turned on in POSE, right?

You're exposing a bug in POSE's handling of network calls. When that flag is used, all the NetLib calls are replaced by calls to the host operating system at the trap level -- you aren't running OS code anymore for network operations, but instead are using the host computer.

I guess POSE is handling all errors OK, and it ends up getting into a confused state. Why not try this same experiment with the Palm OS Simulator? Since that actually is Palm OS built for the desktop, it may have different, more device-correct behavior.
