Is this a step forward or back? This reminds be of the old Turbo-C Days. I would just as well go with the command-line tools as others have suggested.
I think this religious type debate differs based on philosophy. Some people want control of this environment and some people do not care as long as it works. Not to insult but I would classify the first as power-users and the later as tinkers and hobbiests.
