Yes, thats part of it. I need a japaneese GUI but I am also sending
down pdb files that I assume need to be converted to widechar?

If you have text in a PDB that you're creating on the desktop, then it needs to be encoded using Shift-JIS. This is a mixed one- and two-byte encoding. When you say "widechar" it sounds like you're thinking about Windows (and Mac) support for Unicode.

is
widechar supported in code warrior?

Not sure what this means. How is CodeWarrior involved in the creation of a PDB?

I am also considering moving to the
pilrc format. Not sure if that helps or hurts.

For the GUI resources it's another option to Constructor. For me, running Constructor on an English Mac with Japanese support installed has been the easiest approach, but if you need to send text to a 3rd party localization company, then being able to send out a PilRC text file can work better.
