I am developing a compression utility based on average record size. I know the maximum record size is 64K, but I want to know what is the average record size used in most of the applications. This would help me to choose the right compression technique on record basis not on database size.
Please let me know if you know the following: -What is the average record size in Phone book, List to do, and Memo applications? - What are the type of applications most likely used on PDA ? - Is it practical to save documents (Word, Excel, Power Point) and update them while they are on PDA, or most likely they are used for archiving purposes? I really appreciate your response to these questions since they will help me to choose the right compression technique.
