How does one get documents from palmone and palmsource stating what is ok to do with regards to using their name(s) and pictures of their products?
There are pretty clear and reasonable guidelines at http://www.palmsource.com/about/trademarks.html which should answer most questions about how to use trademarks and other textual mentions.
As for permission to use graphics of a specific device, I don't know about that. Oftentimes there are press kits for that purpose... try contacting the PR agency of the company (e.g. palmOne, Sony...) whose graphics you effectively want to reprint.
