I could be wrong, but I don't think you'll find an easier method to achieve
the same results.  Of course the complexity of this would be application
specific and depend largely on how you went about implementing it.

Also, it's going to be difficult to support locales that use a different character set. While it's possible to make an application that has EFIGSP support, adding Simplified Chinese, Japanese, or Korean into the same PRC file is difficult, as no device ships with support for all of those locales, just one of them.
