Did you ensure that your resource database is kept open?

The program works just fine if I use a predefined icon such as BarSecureBitmap in the call to MenuCmdBarAddButton() but does not work when I use my own icon which I've included in the resource file. All I get on the command bar is a blank button.
According to PalmSource's documentation, it should be possible to specify your own resource ID when calling MenuCmdBarAddButton() but this doesn't work and I can't figure-out why.
Do any of you guysa have any ideas?
