I start on some months ago a project that convert a 160x160 bmp color image
to a 3 pdb file (pallete, position, pixels I guess)and use a simple
compression. I got good results, but I stop the project in one week ago...
if you have an interest I can send a demo to you... the actual phase of the
project show very slow the image in the screen because I?m not use no one
resource like double buffering and put pixel in a hide image file... but can
show results in size and quality. work palm os 3.5 and uppers... part in
SF5.2.3 and other in CW9.2.

As answered here on this very mailing list earlier today, the Palm OS
Cobalt (6.0.1) SDK is only available as part of the download of the Palm OS
Developer Suite (PODS) alpha-testing tools. The OS 6 SDK only works with
the PalmSource ARM compiler; it doesn't work with current versions of
CodeWarrior for Palm OS, and there are no Palm OS Cobalt devices shipping
in the market at this time. You won't be able to use the OS 6 SDK to write
multithreaded apps for currently available devices, since they don't
support the Palm OS Protein API used by Palm OS Cobalt.
