I think you misunderstand. K&R C is pre-ANSI C, a dialect which lacked almost any type-checking at all. So back then, hungarian notation was actually useful. The K&R C dialect should not be confused with any of the stuff in the White Book 2nd edition and later (you're probably thinking of 1TBS, the One True Brace Style).
