Um, I think that's just a bug in the Simulator, not much you can do.
Can you try HotSync-ing instead?
I think it won't lock up then.
Also, if you have 128 MB or more RAM,
I think you can run Win2K pretty well on that machine, if you turn off the extras.

Hi,

This is a question I posted on the tools-forum list a few days ago,
but I was hoping the larger traffic on this list might help me make
some progress. Basically, I'm new to OS5 and PalmSim, and I'm
embarrassed to ask for help with this but I'm having trouble getting
started. I'm using Win98 on a fairly old machine (AMD proc, 500MHz).
A responder via tools-forum suggested I use Windows 2000 or XP, but
this is not an option for me, and the PalmSource page on the simulator
says it's tested on 98. Anyway, after starting things up, I can run
built-in apps in the simulator fine. But when I install a prc, even
very simple ones, things inconsistently hang, with the Task Manager
telling me PalmSim is not responding. I've tried installing debug
prc's in the debug PalmSim, non-debug prc's in the release PalmSim,
etc. to no avail. And I'm loading the corresponding ROMs correctly as
far as I can tell. Sometimes a blue bar appears in the center of the
PalmSim window, evidently indicating progress in prc installation, and
then things freeze with the bar frozen in the window.

I've tried to find reference to similar problems in the forums, KB,
FAQs, and other doc's, and the closest thing I've come across is a
posting to tools-forum from 2002 describing a similar situation with
no response. This leads me to believe that I'm doing something
exceedingly dumb, but I can't figure out what that might be, and I'm
just hoping to get on with working with OS5.

If anyone has any tips for me, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Ken Wang
