Thanks to Ben Combee, the problem was solved. The thing that was causing 
the problem is that I had my "global optimizations" set to level 4, once 
I turned the optimizations off, I was able to see all (yes, all for the 
first time) variables (local and global). I am wondering why not having 
the optimization off as the default with codewarrior.
