Wow, they changed the expiry date. I didn't even know that was possible.
(The very same gnu.org page half a year ago said that the patent was expiring
in June 2004.)
Regardless, PNG is, and always has been, a far superior graphics format.
There hasn't been any good excuse to use GIF for quite some time now
(animation doesn't count, either.)
