I would like to start writing Java applications to run on the Palm OS.
I'm trying to understand how to install MIDlets on my Tungsten E via the Hotsync cable. (I don't have a cell phone or an infrared modem so I assume OTA provisioning is not an option for me: am I right? By the way, I do have access to a friend's server so I *can* put applications there for provisioning via http:// URLs at his server if that helps me out but I have the impression that the server won't help if I don't have a wireless device to use to grab the JAD and JAR files from the server.)
When I tried to drop the JAD and JAR files for my MIDlet on the Palm Quick Install desktop application, they jumped into the bottom half of the screen, the area set aside for installations to the expansion card. However, I don't have an expansion card for my Tungsten E and would prefer not to get one immediately if I can avoid it. Is there any way that I can install my MIDlet to the Handheld itself rather than the Expansion Card, perhaps by converting it to a PRC first?
You need to run the JAR2PRC tool to turn your JAR files into PRC files that can be installed by HotSync. The current source of this tool is pluggedin.palmone.com in the Java section of their developer site.
Further Java questions should be asked on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list.
