I've had lots of stability issues with the T|5 Simulator (beta), besides it just being slower than the other Simulators. I assume (hope?) it's because they had to do lots of internal tweaking to simulate the none-volatile stuff. If they are simulating that at all.
One quick fix that's been reported to help, at least with the T5 Simulator speed, is to turn off storage heap protection in the PalmSim.ini file -- find the line that reads
StorageProtection=1
and change it to read
StorageProtection=0
Note, this does mean that writes to the storage heap that don't use DmWrite won't be detected, so it's not the best long-term solution.
