And even if you do, how is the user going to indicate they want to select multiple items? Shift-click? Nope. Control-click? Nope. Double-click? Nope, not that either. Hmm...
It maybe easier to draw a box, put a scrollbar next to it, and have it scroll through a bunch of lines of checkboxes with labels. Plus maybe a "check all" and "uncheck all" button. At least that way it's clear to the typical Palm user how to use your interface.
Yes, for multi-select I use a table (not a list) with at least two columns. The first column is very narrow with a check/uncheck symbol. You may also need a [Clear] button near the table.
This is a very good UI solution, though can be a little tricky to program the first time you implement it.
