Can't you poll the socket from within a procedure alarm?

I think all Palm simulators do not support socket notifications as of now. (Please correct me if I am wrong.)
But most Palm OS devices with Palm OS 5.0 or above already has the socket notifications, including the older Palm Tungsten T.
