I thought that the latest Eclipse IDE made this automatic, but apparently not.

Disabling auto works, but it presumes to know whether "Build" should be available (based on code changes). Well I'm modifying resources, a build is necessary I assure you...IDE doesn't know this of course, so "Build" does nothing. :(
I just keep prompt open and "make clean all". It's not fancy but it works. Oldschool.

You can switch from auto-build to manual-build under the project menu. There's a checkbox item called "build automatically", IIRC.
