I removed a bunch of applications:  MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, 
VMWare, and a bunch of other stuff.  Then the debugger started to work.  
YEAH!!!!     Unfortunately, I don't know which one it  was.  If you have 
this problem, try removing some applications.
