I am not sure if this would work, but, when a warm reset (or any nor-Hard
reset) occurs the user is taken to the Prefs. app. What if you created
mini-apps that used the same name and creator id as the built-in
applications so that when a sysCmdLaunch (or AppLaunch, or whatever is sent
to apps to launch them) is sent it launches your mini-app that sends a
launch code to the main app.
That might work (theoretically).

As far as I know, I cannot install an app with the same creator ID as any built-in app... I tried it with address book when I started to learn palmOs programming.
