For a program I'm working on I had need to save some context data temporarily. I decided that this was a good opportunity to benchmark the performance between the File Streaming API and the Data Manager, more for my curiosity than anything else. I decided to publish my results in a white paper as well as an entry in my blog (the Blogger publishing tools seem to have a problem with HTML tables, BTW). The test is somewhat artificial (10,000 writes and reads of a 1K data buffer) but it should be reasonably sufficient to get a feel for performance.
The URL for the white paper is at http://www.beret.com/developer/FileVersusDB.pdf. You can also download the PODS 1.1 project at http://www.beret.com/developer/FileVersusDB.zip (the UI is serviceable but not very pretty - this was a quick-and-dirty application...) I'm especially interested in any results someone might get if they run this on a Tungsten T5 and on the Treo 600 and 650. ---- Tom Frauenhofer, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Palm OSÂ Certified Developer http://www.beret.com My Blog: http://tomfrauen.blogspot.com -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
