The reason I chose to develop for palm is because of security
reasons alone. I have been envolved in some majore developments over
the last while or so for OS Cobalt, so for me and the organization I
am with, this would be tragic...

I wish we were able to provide specifics, but licensees have learned that pre-announcing devices tends to do bad things to sales of their currently available devices. So in general, devices don't get pre-announced.

However, Samsung has in fact publicly said they're creating a Palm OS Cobalt-based device. A number of licensees are very interested (and/or much more than merely interested), but all the facts like who or when or where or how much... just aren't possible to share at this point.

We fully realize this is a frustrating period of time for all the developers who are dying for the new features present in Palm OS Cobalt. We're frustrated too; 6.x devices should have come out a long time ago, but various Things Happened. (Reminds me of Phantom of the Opera quote in response, "Well, you stop these things 'appening, or this thing does not 'appen!")

Lots of stuff is going on. Can't say more at this time. FWIW there will always be nay-sayers; I can't count how many times people have said we're dead... some say it every year or more, for the last oh 8 years? Take it with a grain of salt as one person's opinion/rant. Just realize we can't say much and don't want to until real devices are available.
