I did not mean to imply that *everyone* at PalmSource was missing that point, but obviously, some people at Palm were missing it at some point in the past. Maybe palmOne got that programmer. Anyway, if I offended you, I apologize. > Sounds like a bug, but a fairly rare one: how many users go through > setup AFTER they've done a HotSync operation to install a new > launcher? According to our customers, lots. Enough that they originally contracted us to re-implement the Setup program for the m515 to do the right thing (and it was very nice, with an animated color palm and everything :-). They gave up on that approach because we couldn't keep up with all the device releases with slightly different setup stuff. > (And does that bug still exist on 6.x?) I don't know if it exists on 6.x because I haven't installed a 3rd party launcher on 6.x (ours is not ported there yet), and without a 3rd-party launcher running, it's hard to tell if Setup/Welcome is getting to the launcher the right way or the wrong way. The T5 doesn't have a setup program. All other devices from the T3 down do, and they all do the wrong thing. > Have you reported the T5-specific bugs to palmOne? Since that isn't > our code I can't speak to those issues. We reported it. Their response was that we could set that hard key pref ourselves when our launcher runs, but of course that a) doesn't prevent the user from going back to the wrong thing by running prefs, and b) doesn't address the Favorites bug at all. -- Dave Carrigan Seattle, WA, USA [EMAIL PROTECTED] | http://www.rudedog.org/ | ICQ:161669680 UNIX-Apache-Perl-Linux-Firewalls-LDAP-C-C++-DNS-PalmOS-PostgreSQL-MySQL Dave is currently listening to Bob Dylan - Hurricane (Desire) -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
